Passport control going from London to Brussels or Amsterdam

Passport control going from London to Brussels or Amsterdam - Neon sign in shop with vintage clothes

I have a multiple-entry French Schengen visa (valid for almost 5 months, allowing 90 days of stay), which I have used twice to enter France, using up a total of 10 days. I am now considering traveling to Belgium or the Netherlands.

  1. If traveling by Eurostar, would I present my passport to the border police of France, or would it be the authorities of the destination country, say Belgium or the Netherlands? I am asking this question because it seems that there are Eurostar services that do not call anywhere in France - they proceed directly across the border to Brussels.

  2. Irrespective of the first question, am I allowed to travel to other Schengen countries, possibly by air, after using my French Schengen visa twice to enter France?

Is there passport control at Eurostar?

You should be prepared to arrive at the station a little earlier than usual. Check your ticket for your recommended arrival time and allow plenty of time to get through security and passport control. If you're UK citizen, but your main residency is in the EU, your passport will not need to be stamped.

Is there border control at Brussels Eurostar?

No, but please bring your passport or ID card when you travel anyway as it may be checked by authorities. And please arrive at the station 20 minutes before your train departs.

Is there passport control on trains in Europe?

No, there is no customs or border check. You won't even know that you have crossed the border unless you happen to notice that station signs are in a different language. If you are travelling entirely within the EU you won't have your passports checked and consequently won't have them collected.

Do you need a passport to go to Amsterdam by train?

If you're taking the Eurostar, you'll need a passport or national identity card. For journeys from within the Schengen Area into Amsterdam, there won't be passport checks as such \u2013 and you won't need your passport to purchase tickets \u2013 but you'd be mad not to carry some form of valid ID with you!
