ID check crossing the Italian-Swiss border by car

ID check crossing the Italian-Swiss border by car - Busy black businessman checking notification on smartphone while crossing street

I struggled to find this info online. How often is my ID requested and checked when crossing the border between Italy and Switzerland (and back) by using my Italian car (suppose that I have nothing to declare to customs) and which information (if any) from my ID do the border police of either country record when they check it? I'm an Italian citizen >18 years old and I will only carry my biometric passport and driving licence. Thanks a lot!

Since both Italy and Switzerland are part of the Schengen Area, there will be no systematic passport/id card control at the border. Additionally travelling on your id card will be enough.
