Will gate agents in London know if I'm "undesirable" before my stop-over in Johannesburg? [duplicate] - Close-Up of Gate of Buckingham Palace

I was recently deemed "undesirable" in South Africa for overstaying my visa. I want to visit my South African fiance in Botswana but all of the affordable flights stop at OR Tambo. Will the gate agents for my connecting flight before SA know I am not allowed in the country and prevent me from boarding? I don't want to get stopped in London/Zurich and not have Christmas with my fiance.

Also will the gate agents in my connecting flight before SA know I am not allowed in the country and prevent me from boarding?

No they will not, as South Africa doesn't do advance passenger screening.

Unlike most countries, South Africa does perform "border" control for transit passengers, but as you're not trying to entering the country, not much if anything will happen.

So you should definitely be fine.

Do I have to go through security again for connecting flight?

For connecting domestic flights, you almost never have to exit and reenter security, though there are some exceptions at airports where the terminals aren't all connected. For domestic-to-international connection, it's still pretty rare that you have to exit and reenter security, even if you're changing terminals.

What does a ticket gate agent do?

A gate agent's primary responsibilities are to check passengers in for their flights, assign seats, and print boarding passes. They also handle customer service issues that arise at the gate.

Are you allowed out of the airport during a stopover?

Yes, you can leave the airport during a layover, provided your passport allows you visa-free entry to the country you're in and you have enough time between flights. In fact, some people intentionally book flights with longer layovers (which are often cheaper) so they get to see a new city.

Can someone walk you to your gate?

Most airlines do give out gate passes, which allow non-ticketed individuals to accompany ticketed passengers past security to the gate. However, gate passes are typically meant, at least officially, for parents of unaccompanied minors, people assisting elderly or disabled passengers, and military families.
