Does anyone know whether embassies and consulates of Schengen Member States perform audits on visas they issued? Do they ever go through the applications in greater detail, or any sort of detail for that matter, after issuance?

This is out of sheer curiosity, I like to know the legal workings of things.

How many members are in the European Court of Auditors?

It is a collegiate body of 28 Members, one from each Member State. The Court's Members are appointed by the Council of the EU for a six-year renewable term, after consultation with the European Parliament, while the President is elected among the members themselves for a three-year renewable term.
