How serious is an expired passport? [closed]
I am in Europe, my passport is expired about 3 months ago, but i am tied up here due to active court case for my visa. I can't renew my passport because there is no embassy here for my country. I can't do anything about not having a renewed passport, and I can stay here until the appeal is heard (might take 3-18 months)…
So how serious is it to not have a renewed passport? I don't plan on traveling outside this country. Do you know what actions are commonly taken for people who have expired passport? I have been here now for 5 years.
I am in Finland, I am from Mongolia. More importantly, is there any international rule about having a valid up to date passport at all times?
