3 hours layover at Haneda airport to US [duplicate] - Black Fighter Jet on the Road during Night Time

I am a Philippine passport holder travelling to US via Haneda. I only have a 3-hour layover in Haneda. From Manila I will be taking PH Airlines and from Haneda to US I will be taking AA (American Airlines).

Do I need a transit visa at Haneda airport?

Best Answer

If you are planning to go out of the airport then you need a visa. For a 3 hour layover, I suggest that you stay at the airport because sometimes flights are delayed and your 3 hours layover may become 2 hours.

In the same time you need atleast 1 hour in an average to find your connecting flight gate and prepare to board the plane.

Is 3 hours a long enough layover?

FYI: A long layover isn't one that's less than 3 hours, so let's not get dramatic! In fact, we recommend that you book at least an hour or more of a layover to give both you and your luggage time to catch your connecting flight.

Can you leave Haneda Airport during a layover?

For a short layover within the airport a visa is not needed, for a longer layover such as an overnight stay which will see you leaving the terminal you will need a tourist visa or a transit visa. Whichever the case may be you can certainly make the most out of your brief stay in Japan!

How long does a layover go through customs?

The recommended layover time for international flights is generally longer, as you will have to go through customs and immigration before boarding your next flight. In most cases, a 30-minute layover for domestic flights and an hour for international flights is considered a minimum, or short, layover.

Do I need a transit visa for a 2 hour layover?

In most cases \u2014 no, you don't need a visa, even if the layover is in a third country where you would need a visa to travel to. However, there are a few exceptions, as well as a few things you should know about transiting in a third country.

Answer 2

As stated in Timatic, the database used by Airlines:

Visa required, except for Holders of onward tickets for a max. transit time of 72 hours through Tokyo Haneda (HND) or Osaka Kansai (KIX).

So if the trip is in one booking, you do not need a visa

Answer 3

Check haneda custom website. They actually have a section with Visa. It says that you should check with your embassy about restrictions and such.

Also I found a PDF from Philippine embassy regarding traveling to japan. regarding to this country passport it says:

  1. Philippine Passport
    • Broken passport is not accepted. Passports must be signed and must have at least two (2) blank visa pages.

Make sure before buying your plane ticket that your trip includes visa for transit. Otherwise this could be problematic.

So if you stay in the transit zone you shouldn't have any visa trouble :)

Hope this helps
