Why are hotels in Paris too expensive? [closed]

Why are hotels in Paris too expensive? [closed] - Facade of contemporary hotel and residential house in Paris

I am planning on vacationing in Paris for a few days and really have a problem with these expensive hotels. I have two options:

  1. Pay too much, at least 220€/night and stay in comfortable/safe hotel.
  2. Save money and stay in a potentially uncomfortable/unsafe hotel.

I am nervous about the cleanliness and safety of the less expensive hotels? I want something clean (at least a 3 stars) and not so expensive.

Are there any other options for me?

Is it cheap to stay in Paris?

Let's face it, Paris is expensive. Getting to Paris is expensive, the food is expensive, getting around is expensive, and accommodation is expensive.
