I will have the Type D (National) Visa for Poland in few weeks. (I will be a student in a university)

All other questions are about to go to the Schengen area after they visited the country which they got the national visa for.

I want to spend a time around 1 month in Schengen area before i go to the Poland.

Is this possible?

Can I travel to other Schengen countries with D visa?

Could I use this visa to make a trip to other Schengen States? Yes. According to the Schengen rules, the Schengen visa is generally valid for all the countries in the Schengen area. Please note, however, that you always have to apply at the consulate of the country which is your primary destination (see FAQ no 5).

Can I travel with D type visa?

The D-type visas allow to stay in other Schengen states for 90 days of any 180-day period. It means that you can legally stay in the Schengen Area only if your stay was shorter than 90 days over the past 180 days. The D-type visa is valid for a maximum of one year.

Can I travel Europe with German D visa?

My visa has been issued by the German consulate, can I use this visa to travel to other countries (ex. Netherlands or Denmark) Yes, you can!

Can Italy study visa type D travel to other Schengen countries?

MULTIPLE ENTRY more than 90 days stay ITALIAN LONG-TERM STUDY VISA (type D): This visa permits you to travel in and out of Italy and the other Schengen countries during the first 90 days of your visit; later you will still be able to do it but only with a permit of stay (see below).
