I'd like to take a swim from Dubrovnik to the island of Lokrum and back. Are there any non-obvious factors (strong currents? marine animals? local police? Game of Thrones fans?) that would prevent me from doing so?

Can you swim on Lokrum Island? Even though there is not a full 'beach' area with sand, there are places you can swim on Lokrum Island. These include The Dead Sea and off the Stijene (Rocks) where there are some ladders to get into the Adriatic Sea.

Getting to Lokrum The trip lasts 15 minutes and cost 40 Kuna (about 5 euro). There are regular, daily sailings from Dubrovnik Old Town's port to the island. It is serviced by a local ferry company that sails to the Island two to four times per hour depending on the season. The sailing takes just under 15 minutes.
