Is it allowed to stay in Canada beyond the date on which an eTA (and the passport it is linked to) expires?

I haven't yet entered, so it's hypothetical, but if I wasn't limited by CBSA on entry I would be allowed to stay for 6 months. If my passport and eTA expired in a month from my date of entry, could I still stay for 6 months?

What happens if you overstay your visitor visa Canada?

Arrest, Deportation, or Removals Those who overstay in Canada may receive a Removal Order as issued by the Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) or the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA). Removal orders will state that you are can't legally remain in Canada and must leave the country.

What if my eTA expires while in Canada?

It is not possible to extend an eTA for Canada once the permit has expired. Those who wish to continue to travel to Canada after the electronic travel authorization expires will be required to submit a new Canada eTA application from outside the country before they may return.

How many days can I stay in Canada after my visa expires?

Most visitors can stay in Canada for up to 6 months. If your passport was stamped when you entered Canada, you need to leave by the date stamped in your passport. If you received a visitor record, you need to leave Canada by the expiry date listed on the visitor record.

Can I come back to Canada with an expired passport?

Without a valid passport or a special authorization, the airline will not let you board. The advice in #6 to show up at the airport with your expired passport will not be helpful. If your flight date is still several weeks into the future, then get going on the process to get a new passport.
