I have a ticket from Larnaca Cyprus, via London to Houston. I no longer want to start my journey in Larnaca as I will be in London. Can I just get on the plane in London after the 10 hour layover at Heathrow. It's also a change of airline but on one ticket.

The vast major of airlines do not allow this, but rather require you to have your ticket changed in such a case. They will cancel your ticket in case you don't show up for your first flight.

Do you have to go through security twice on connecting flights?

For most domestic layovers, you won't have to go through security again. However, some airports have separate security checkpoints for each terminal, so if you land in one terminal and your next flight is in another, you would have to go through security again.

What is the difference between stopover and connecting flight?

What is the difference between a layover and connecting flight? While these terms are often used interchangeably, they are not the same thing. A layover is the time you spend at the airport between two flights. A connecting flight is the next flight in your itinerary that you're waiting at the airport to take.

Is stopover same as transit?

Another point of confusion is layover vs stopover or transit. Once again, a layover is a stop that lasts less than 24 hours, while a stopover lasts 24 hours or more. On the other hand, Transit is simply the act of returning to the same aircraft after your layover at the airport.

What is stopover flight means?

On layover flights, during the aircraft changeover your baggage is transferred to the new aircraft by airport staff. If a journey is broken at a certain point in order to drop passengers off or for operational reasons and then continues on to the destination using the same aircraft, this is referred to as a stopover.
