S-Bahn and tickets in Vienna

S-Bahn and tickets in Vienna - White Concrete Churchpeople Under Blue Sky

This week I need to travel 2 times (with 60 hours apart) via S-Bahn in Vienna:

  1. From Wien Hauptbahnhof to Praterstern, using any of the S-Bahn or R trains.
  2. From Praterstern to VIE airport, using the S7.

My questions:

  • How much does a single ticket cost for each of these trips? (I've seen prices online between 2.4 EUR and 4.4 EUR.) I don't need any 24-hour, 48-hour or 72-hour pass, Vienna City Card or anything else. I only need these 2 single tickets.

  • What is the fastest way to buy these tickets with a MasterCard? Probably the ticket machines. Any recommendations on the least busy ticket machines I should find on Wien Hauptbahnhof? (I'm asking because I will be in a hurry, and every minute counts.)
