First time flyer. Flying alone. 7:00 a.m Flight from Boston, landing at 8:27 am. Both Flights United, and both bought on same itinerary. My flight is at 9:08 going to Sarasota, Fl. I assume I will be at the Same terminal, but I don't really have any idea.

United has two terminals at Newark, A & C. Your flights are both likely but not guaranteed to land at/depart from C. Even if you do have to transfer, there's a shuttle that does not require you to go through security again.
The good news is that if United sold you that connection as a single ticket, it's a legal layover. So even if you do miss the connecting flight, they'll put you on the next available flight for free.

How much time do I need for a layover in Newark?
40 minutes at Newark for a Domestic -> International connection is plenty of time, presuming that your inbound flight is on time, and you're within the same terminal. Is a 40 min layover too short?
The recommended layover time for international flights is generally longer, as you will have to go through customs and immigration before boarding your next flight. In most cases, a 30-minute layover for domestic flights and an hour for international flights is considered a minimum, or short, layover. Is 40 minutes enough time between flights?
Security-clearance programs are available at select U.S. and international airports. As a rule of thumb, on domestic routes, you need a minimum of 45 minutes between flights. That's because you don't have to go through security, customs, and immigration. Is an hour and a half layover enough time in Newark?
No, 1 hour is not remotely close to enough ahead of an international flight. EWR is a busy airport and has a lot of delays. The smallest delay in the first flight will cause you to miss the connection. I'd want two hours or preferably three just in case.DON'T LET THIS RUIN YOUR TRIP! | *Tips for short connecting flights*

I've had short layovers going to Beijing from orlando with a connection in EWR. Both flights are in terminal C with United. You can google both flight numbers (with departing and arriving airports) to see their terminal schedule for the year -- this is 2019's schedule for one of my flights: https://info.flightmapper.net/flight/United_Airlines_UA_617
