I will be arriving from Singapore to Newark (likely at Terminal B) on Singapore Airlines at 06:00am. My connecting flight to Chicago (likely at Terminal C) is scheduled to depart at 08:45am. This will be on a Tuesday.

I am a Star Alliance Gold member and purposely chose to fly United as it is one of the partner airlines.

I will be traveling with my elderly mother (neither of us are American citizens) and have 1 checked bag.

I'm not sure about the procedure for arriving from abroad.

Is this layover time enough (as in, comfortable, without having to rush/run) for us?

I have also heard that there is a transfer shuttle bus that connects the terminals such that you don't need to leave security area. What is the schedule for this bus?

In the case of a missed connection, how likely is it that United would honor Star Alliance Gold membership and put us on a later flight?

Assuming you have purchased this as a single ticket, two hours should be quite sufficient unless your flight is significantly delayed. You won't go through any kind of immigration control departing the US, just normal airport security at DFW and Indian immigration when you arrive at BOM.

No, 1 hour is not remotely close to enough ahead of an international flight. EWR is a busy airport and has a lot of delays. The smallest delay in the first flight will cause you to miss the connection. I'd want two hours or preferably three just in case.
