Connecting flight time at AMS
I am flying OTP (Bucharest Henri Coandă, RO) - AMS (Amsterdam Schipol, NL) - SLC (Salt Lake City, US).
Is 1 hour and 5 minutes enough time to make my flight at AMS to SLC?
Best Answer
You didn't specify airlines but that's OK, I know what airlines are flying these routes... SLC is Delta 4th largest hub, while AMS is KLM's main hub and they also happen to be in alliance (working together closer than normal, even for alliance) so let's check the GDS for MCT at AMS for them:
KL-DL II .50
you are cutting this awfully close. Doable, yes, especially because last time I did something like this the security was at the gate so if you got in line they didn't really leave without you but as I just copied, even the official connection time is 50 minutes and that's always optimistic.

Is 1 hour layover enough time in AMS?
1. Re: One hour layover in Amsterdam Schiphol, enough time? If it is on the same airline, you maybe OK. However, you are better off getting another flight with 1.5-2.0 hours connection time. How much time should you have for a connecting flight?
Pad Your Schedule for Airport Connections That's why many travelers deliberately pad their schedules by booking a longer layover than the minimum at a connecting hub. Consider allowing at least 60 to 90 minutes for a U.S. domestic connection, and at least two hours for an international connection.Do I need to go through customs for a connecting flight in Amsterdam?
You won't be going through customs at Schiphol until you return from your trip. Unless you're travelling to another Schengen country, you'll be going through passport control after the security check. And that process is handled by the Royal Netherlands Marechaussee, not Dutch Customs. Feeling like a confused customer? Is 2 hours enough between connecting flights?
Two hours. Mayers recommends two hours as a standard buffer between flights to be safe. This gives you a cushion in case things go wrong during your journey. You'll definitely want at least a two-hour window if you've booked a \u201chacker fare,\u201d as opposed to flying with the same airline your entire trip.TRANSFER AT AMSTERDAM Airport Schiphol - How to Make a Connection Flight at Schiphol Airport
