I am non-EU citizen living in Europe for number of years. I have been an extensive traveller within EU countries. I have often wondered what the good of travel insurance is when travelling within Europe. Is it really necessary?

I pay social contributions in the EU country in which I live, but I don't have any other medical coverage.
