UK visa given with wrong dates

UK visa given with wrong dates - Text

I have applied for a UK VISA 3 months in advance and have mentioned that my UK arrival date is 15th Sept 2019. I also mentioned that I intend to stay for 5 months. Thus my return date will be mid Feb 2020. Now I received my VISA from 03/07/2019 to 03/01/2020. The expiry date is prior to my intended departure date.

What should I do to get dates corrected?

Best Answer

Even though you said your arrival and departure dates when you applied, the visa is usually issued form the date of approval (that explains the July date) then 6 months onwards. I have found several people with similar situations.

I recommend trying to travel earlier, but as that might be a challenge you can contact UK visas and immigration.

If you are contacting them outside of the UK here are your options for contacting them:

Can I change the start date of my UK visa?

No, the only way to change your visa start date is to cancel your existing application and submit a new application. The dates on your vignette sticker are just your UK entry dates, an arrival window that you are given to enable you to enter and collect your BRP.

What happens if you make a mistake on your UK visa application?

Making a mistake on an immigration application form can be disastrous. If the mistake is interpreted by officials as an attempt to mislead or deceive, the application will inevitably be refused. If the application was for entry clearance, it will also lead to a ten-year ban on re-entry to the UK.

Can UK visa be Cancelled after being issued?

You can ask to cancel (withdraw) an application for a visa, visa extension or citizenship. You'll get a refund of the immigration health surcharge if you cancel before a decision has been made about your application. You may get a refund of the application fee.

Why are UK visas getting delayed?

This is in addition to unpredictable levels of demand across all visa routes globally, following the easing of travel restrictions into the UK. As a result, applications for study, work and family visas are taking longer to process, with Standard Visitor visas currently taking an average of 6 weeks to process."
