Traveling to UK before visa is valid?
I am an Australian male and I've just had my application for a YMS (Youth Mobility Scheme) visa accepted (passport arrived in the mail today). In the application for my visa, I put down that I would be arriving on the 16th of August, so my visa is valid from this date. However, to accustom myself to the UK and find somewhere to live I booked my flight for August 10th. I should note that I had actually forgotten what I had put down as my original intended date of arrival when booking my flight; I didn't decide to do this on purpose as a way of squeezing some extra time out of my visa. Either way, I will not be working until September 1st.
Will I be allowed to travel to the UK on this date, despite my visa not being 'valid' until the 16th of August? Or at least, will the visa office allow me to change it without applying for an entirely new one?

You can apply for a Student visa up to 6 months before your course starts when applying outside the UK. Your course start date is listed on your CAS.
