I plan to travel in South Korea's countryside by car in May and June. I only speak English. Will language be an issue when booking a hotel (I'll probably only book a few days ahead of time), buying food, or driving to the locations I'm aiming for?

Can you get around Korea speaking English?

Your experience will vary. Most store employees, hotel employees, and taxi drivers will know some english and you'll likely be able to communicate, maybe with some difficulty. However, the farther away from Seoul you get, the less likely everyday people will speak english.
