Time for domestic to international connection at Orlando/MCO

Time for domestic to international connection at Orlando/MCO - Top view of crop unrecognizable African American male typing on netbook with paw of dog aside

I am flying from San Francisco (SFO) to Orlando (MCO) and connecting to Peru. The inbound flight will likely be in section 2 (terminal A) and outbound in section 4 (terminal B). The layover time I have is 1 hour and 52 minutes. Does it sound safe enough? It seems like I need to get through another checkpoint at the main terminal.

Note: I'll have carry-on baggage only, and I booked my flights with one airline (through American Airlines, but the inbound flight is with Alaska and the outbound with Latam).

Since USA doesn't have exit emigration check, you can make the domestic to international connection easily within that time, provided the incoming flights are not delayed. You will be provided with boarding pass for the both segment and your bags will be checked through (if any).

Familiarize with the layout of the airport here - https://www.orlandoairports.net/getting-around-mco/ so that you can find out

Note that the reverse connection might be difficult in that time, as you have to clear immigration, collect bags and check-in again.

Do I have to go through security again for connecting flight domestic to international?

For connecting domestic flights, you almost never have to exit and reenter security, though there are some exceptions at airports where the terminals aren't all connected. For domestic-to-international connection, it's still pretty rare that you have to exit and reenter security, even if you're changing terminals.

How long of a layover do I need in Orlando?

Go sightseeing With a layover of at least 7 hours, you can head out to explore downtown Orlando. Longer layovers may make a visit to a nearby theme park possible, but you'll want to plan ahead, as tickets often sell out in advance \u2013 or you'll have to wait in line, which defeats the purpose altogether.

How much time do you need for an international flight connection?

Consider allowing at least 60 to 90 minutes for a U.S. domestic connection, and at least two hours for an international connection. Airlines usually allow you four hours or more maximum connecting time.

Is 2 hours enough for an international connection?

International flights require longer connections as you will often have to go through immigration and customs upon arrival. For international layover flights booked on one airline, two hours is often recommended to make your connection.
