I recently flew out of US to get my H1B visa stamped and the departure location in my I-94 history says "unavailable". However the date associated with this departure record is correct and reflects the date on which I left the United States. Will this cause an issue when returning to the US?

Does immigration know your travel history?

Answer: The Department of State does not keep records of citizens' travels. The only record of your travels is your passport containing entry and exit stamps. The immigration office of the country/s you traveled to MAY be able to provide you with information on your entry into their borders.

What is the I-94 Arrival Departure Record number?

Every I-94 record has an eleven-digit admission number. This number may be needed at the Department of Motor Vehicles and for employment purposes, but it is not a number that needs to be memorized. In fact, a new I-94 number will be given each time the student or scholar re-enters the United States.

What should I do if my I-94 is not updated?

What if my Form I-94 has incorrect information on it? If USCIS issued your Form I-94 as part of granting you an extension of stay or change of status, you will need to file a Form I-102, Application for Replacement/Initial Nonimmigrant Arrival-Departure Document.

How does U.S. Immigration know when you leave?

By Plane or Cruise ship they know when you left and when you arrived by the ship's manifest and electronic information from security checks on your passport and boarding pass. They know this on everyone including citizens.
