Reentering the US as a German citizen after visiting the British Virgin Islands

Reentering the US as a German citizen after visiting the British Virgin Islands - Crop unrecognizable person demonstrating British passport

I will be visiting the US for a scientific conference and plan to spend 5 days on the US Virgin Islands, flying to St Thomas STT airport from Atlanta. I'll then take a ferry to the British Virgin Islands and spend 6 days. I'll take a ferry back to the US Virgin Islands to fly to Frankfurt, Germany from St. Thomas STT Airport.

As a German citizen, is this possible? If yes, what sort of US visa would I need (multi-entry)? My trip will be in January 2019, well ahead any Brexit considerations.
