A quick search for ESTA application returned many results. According to this page on cbp.gov, the official site to apply for an ESTA is esta.cbp.dhs.gov.

Are the others scams, legitimate third party resellers or "added value" services?

Can anyone confirm either way?

To check your ESTA status, go to the ESTA homepage and click "Check Existing Application" and then "Check Individual Status". On the next screen, enter the passport number, date of birth, and application number.

Is ESTA real?

ESTA Authorization Approved You should be aware that although the ESTA has been approved, it is still possible for the Customs and Border Protection agents to revoke it, should they see fit and refuse entry into the US.
