Is my US visa still valid after change in name?

Is my US visa still valid after change in name? - Diverse people uniting on demonstration against politics

I'm a Malawian national and I got US Visa years back.

Recently, due to some reasons, I had to get my first name partially changed on my passport. I have got an affidavit certificate stating the reason and proof.

Since the visa on my old passport has still not expired, but there is a difference in first name, will I face any problem?

If your name has legally changed through marriage, divorce, or a court ordered name change, you will need to obtain a new passport. Once you have a new passport, the Department of State recommends that you apply for a new U.S. visa to make it easier for you to travel to and from the United States. I changed my name.

Will name change affect visa?

Change of name does not invalidate an existing visa, as long as the Department is notified properly with the name change with supporting documents. An existing visa can then be linked with the new travel document with changed name.

Does my visa become invalid if I change passport?

No, you do not need to apply for new visa. The visa will remain valid even if it is in your old, cancelled passport.
