Is it possible that a fare is shown on ITA Matrix but not available to agencies?

Is it possible that a fare is shown on ITA Matrix but not available to agencies? - Close-up Photo of Matrix Background

I got a fare on ITA, but the agencies that I contacted say they don't have one of the legs available? Basically the class shown on ITA is not available on travel agents.

I double-checked all the parameters. Even the city of the origin.

I am seeing the fare for more than one week now and I've been inquiring agencies since I saw it.

Best Answer

Yes, it's possible for this to happen.

I think Google themselves say it best:

Please also know that the data we show can unfortunately change at any time in any direction. We generally have a very high accuracy rate, and we update our data as fast as anyone in the industry and faster than most. That said, these changes are determined by the airlines, and we do not know when or how the data will change. We're always working with the airlines to improve the quality of our search results, but it may be possible that a specific fare you see is no longer available.

If you're unable to book a particular flight at the price you saw on our website, please let us know.

What is an unpublished fare?

If you call an airline looking for the rules to an unpublished fare you would be out of luck. They are not offered for sale by the airline online or over the phone with the airline. Unpublished airfares are also known as private fares or consolidator fares, or, sometimes, wholesale fares.

What does fares are not guaranteed until ticketed mean?

Airline regulations prohibit us from holding reservations. To ensure you receive the discounted fare the tickets need to purchase the ticket(s) immediately. Airfares are not guaranteed until ticketed and the fare will expire if the reservation is not confirmed and ticketed.

How are published fare sold?

Airline Fare Type #1: Published Fares Published airfares are available through the airline directly and are also sold through any travel agency\u2014both traditional and online. Published fares can fluctuate multiple times a day as the airline attempts to maximize revenue for a given flight.

What is the difference between bulk fare and published fare?

Bulk fare - A fare only available when buying blocks of airline seats. Many companies (Expedia, Funjet, etc) buy these and package with the land portion. Published fare - A rate that is offered directly by the airlines. Generally these are the highest rates available.
