Embassy stamped the last (empty) page of the passport

I have recently received a visa from Ireland. I have just noticed that they stamped the very last blank page with the embassy stamp (it says "Embassy of Ireland" and has the location of the mission). The last page contains no other marks, and the page with the visa has another stamp at the expected place.

I am puzzled by this. Why would they do that? Am I in any sort of trouble for having improper markings in my travel document?

I am also somewhat worried this makes it look as if I was refused a visa. I do have a visa, but it is not immediately obvious that it was my only application.

What are the empty pages in a passport for?

Many countries have a specific travel regulation for the number of blank passport pages visitors should have. This is to allow space for visas and visa stamps. Before embarking on an international trip, it is important to check your destination's passport requirements to ensure that you meet them.

What is the last page of my passport?

The last page of the passport currently lists the names of father/legal guardian, mother, spouse, address, and whether the holder is in the 'Emigration Check Required (ECR)' category. With the last page blank, passports will most likely cease to be a valid address proof.

What is stamped on passport?

A passport stamp is an inked impression in a passport typically made by rubber stamp upon entering or exiting a territory. Passport stamps may occasionally take the form of sticker stamps, such as entry stamps from Japan.

Are there at least two blank pages in your passport?

Standard passport books have 17 blank pages, but you can actually start with more! Frequent travelers should consider requesting the 52 page passport book when applying for a passport. New passport and renewal passport applicants can request the 52 page passport book for no additional cost.
