Does the privilege status with an airline or alliance change if one redeems their miles?

Does the privilege status with an airline or alliance change if one redeems their miles? - Black and white heap of wooden figurines placed on stairs illustrating social mobility and hierarchy on street with bright sunlight

I am a frequent traveler with American Airlines and I have accrued 84,022 miles over the last 4 years. I have 67,607 award miles right now on my AA account and I have been maintaining Gold Elite status from past 3 years. I am planning to fly international this week and I am thinking about redeeming those 67K miles towards my purchase. By doing that, will it affect my elite status or what exactly happens? Could anyone shed some light on this?

Thanks

Can Star Alliance group members redeem mileage from one airline for a flight using another airline?

Bottom lineYou can't transfer airline miles from one airline to another. It's also impossible to combine two different types of miles into one account. However, you can use an airline's miles to book an award seat on another airline within the same alliance.

Can I transfer miles from one Star Alliance member to another?

As a loyal Star Alliance member, you've probably accumulated a lot of miles over the years. But they're not much good unless you know how to redeem them for the best value. With Star Alliance transfer miles, shifting rewards to another frequent flyer program is not allowed.

Do Star Alliance miles expire?

Miles do not expire per se, but your account is liable to be shut down if you do not credit miles from a Star Alliance flight once every 5 years.

How do you get gold status in Star Alliance?

With only 40,000 miles needed over a 24-month period, Star Alliance Gold status is relatively easily obtained. Better yet, to keep this status, you only need 30,000 miles in the subsequent 24-month period.
