Australia: eVisitor or ETA

Australia: eVisitor or ETA - Sea Horizon

I intend to

  • Fly from Cambodia to Sydney
  • In Sydney board a cruise ship with Bahamas flag
  • By said ship visit more places in Australia (Melbourne, Perth, ...)
  • Leave by said ship towards Indonesia

Would that count as a single visit (=free eVisitor visa) where I just happen to use an alien transport vessel, or as multiple visits (=20AUD ETA visa) because I am legally in the Bahamas in-between? From my experience, passports get only entry-stamped upon arrival at the first port and exit-stamp when leaving the last, but I just wanted to be sure ...

Do you need an ETA or visa for Australia?

The ETA (Electronic Travel Authority, visa subclass 601) is an electronic visa for Australia that can be used to enter the country for tourism or business purposes. All foreign travellers except New Zealand citizens must get a visa to enter Australia.

What is the difference between eVisitor and visitor visa?

Both e-visas can be used as a tourist visa or business visa. The only differences between an eVisitor and an ETA Australia are the nationalities accepted, the different application procedures and the differences in application fees.

What is the difference between eVisa and ETA?

An eVisa is typically valid for 30 to 60 days, whereas an eTA is often valid for a long period of time. An eTA also permits the holder multiple entries into their destination, but an eVisa is usually single-entry.

Is an Australian ETA free?

As for the fee, you'll be charged only USD 55.00. Rush processing time: if you are looking to get your Australia ETA sooner, you can opt for this processing time and have your document ready within 4 hours. The fee, as you may expect, is a bit higher this time. You need to pay USD 85.00.
