Can you visit the DMZ in South Korea? Not only can you visit the DMZ in Korea, but this is, in fact, a must! An estimated 1.2 million visitors come to this historic area each year. You will only be allowed to go on one of the official DMZ tours led by a licensed tour guide.

Can you visit DMZ on your own?

It's a place to learn about Korean history, the Korean War\u2014which killed more than three million people\u2014and the Koreans whose families have been divided just as the Korean peninsula has. Just don't try and visit on your own. The DMZ can only be visited on a guided tour.
