Visiting Canada after two months in the USA on ESTA

Visiting Canada after two months in the USA on ESTA - Splashing Niagara Falls and yacht sailing on river

I have visited the USA for two months on an ESTA and plan to go to Canada for two additional months by air. My plan is to return to my home country directly from Canada and not return via the USA. I saw on several websites that when visiting Canada/Mexico and neighboring islands that the period you remain in Canada is counted as part of your 90 days.

I do not want to violate an immigration laws so is it possible me to visit Canada on this trip? Do I need to prove that I have exited the United States?

Any help is much appreciated.
