Me and some friends are planning a trip to India and go to Leh from New Delhi by road later this year.

Which route from Delhi to Leh is better out of the two and why?

When Manali Leh road is closed?

The Manali-Leh highway was closed for vehicular movement on October 17, 2021 following winter snowfall. The road was closed officially beyond Darcha from November 2. As the winter snowfall is continuing, the road will continue to remain blocked throughout the season.

Is Manali to Leh route open?

Manali Leh Highway is open as of 26 March 2022. However, only army vehicles and essential supply vehicles are allowed to travel on it.

Is Manali to Ladakh road open?

The current Manali Leh highway status for the year 2022 is open. Civilian traffic was allowed to cross Baralacha Pass from the Manali side last week and travel to Leh. Only bikes and cars are being allowed for now. It is still closed for heavy vehicles like trucks, buses, tempo travelers, etc.

Is Ladakh open for road trip?

The best time for a Ladakh road trip is from June to September when all the roads and passes are open and you see a lot of car enthusiasts and bikers taking the road to Ladakh during these months.
