I am travelling to South Africa transiting via Nairobi before returning to Nairobi after a week, Can the airline hold/keep my luggage for me in Nairobi till I return to Nairobi

Best Answer

No. The airline will not hold luggage for you. Not voluntarily anyway. If you failed to pick up your luggage at the airport, they would probably hold if for a few days providing it didn't go missing. It's not a recommended strategy though.

Ideally you should look for a left luggage service at the airport or in the city. If you're staying at a hotel in Nairobi, it is often possible to leave luggage with them for little or no payment.

Do I have to recheck my luggage when flying with multiple airlines?

If all your flights on multiple carriers are on the same ticket, your bags will be checked through to your final destination. If you're flying different carriers on different tickets, you will have to collect your bags at connecting airports and check them in for your next flight. That's it in a nutshell.

Can we combine luggage in flight?

Usually, combining the checked luggage allowance is allowed only between passengers on the same booking. This means that not only do you have to be on the same flight, but also share the same booking number. Normally, it doesn't matter if you're related or not, as long as you share the same booking number.

How do you travel with two suitcases?

The best option would be to use a regular leather belt for strapping two or three pieces of luggage together. We've seen people do this, and it seems to work just as fine as luggage straps. One belt is usually enough for strapping two or three suitcases together by the top handles.

Can you link two separate flights?

A: It depends, but the general rule is NO. Some airlines will through check baggage onto separately ticketed flights, but some won't (even if both tickets are with the same airline). Some airlines will take pity if your delay is due to them, but others don't.
