I'm planning a journey during my next vacation in Febuary 2013 from São Paulo to Paris. In one of my researches, I found a good flight option with KLM. The plane stops for 6 hours in Amsterdam (Netherlands) with all fees/taxes included. My doubt is, will I need to pay another boarding fee if, during this stop, I get out of Amsterdam airport to visit the city? Last year I did the same with TAP in Lisbon and had no problems with it.

Do you have to check in again for a connecting flight KLM?

In most cases, you'll receive your boarding pass for your connecting flight already when you check in for your first flight. This means you don't have to check in again for your next flight. If you haven't received it, you can go to the transfer desk or kiosk of the airline you're flying with to collect it.

Does KLM allow free stopovers?

KLM. With KLM, customers can take advantage of two free stopovers in Amsterdam, as they are entitled to at least one free stopover on the outbound ticket and another free stopover on the inbound ticket.

Do you have to go through security again for a connecting flight Amsterdam?

There are no additional security checks so passengers can simply walk to their next gate. However, health checks nowadays could mean this time is slightly longer so do leave some cushion to compensate for flight delays. For international flights, KLM recommends at least 50 minutes of transit time.

Can you leave the airport during a layover Amsterdam?

These factors may cut into your layover time. So considering all of this if you are left with 5 hours or more you can definitely leave the Amsterdam Airport. If you have 4 hours, you can leave but you will not be able to see as much. Under 4 hours I would not recommend leaving the airport, unfortunately.
