London Family Travel Card Train Ticket

I will be staying in Slough and will be visiting London for one day with my family of 2 adults and 2 children.

A bit of looking around, and I came across this "Family Travelcard Same day return Offpeak travel" on http://www.thetrainline.com

London-Slough Family Travel Card

It appears to cover bus, tube, tram, as well as the journey from Slough to Victoria station and back, for just £29.20.

This seems a little too good to be true given the prices of other ticket types, so I'm guessing the "Off-Peak" is the catch: So how can I tell what are off-peak times? Do the tube journeys have to be off-peak too, and how can I find that information? Will I be turned away from either the train or tube station if I show up with that ticket at the wrong time? Or is the fact that I can select the times (radio buttons in screenshot) there mean the ticket is valid for those journeys. (e.g. in screenshot, the 8:57am time can't be selected so maybe that's not "off-peak")
