Is it possible to travel to Jan Mayen Island? - A Staten Island Ferry Cruising with Passengers on Sea

I am planning to spent my next holiday in Norway, I am looking for things to do while being there and came across this island called Jan Mayen. It is a rather remote place with no inhabitants (except for a few scientists and ocassionally hunters). Since I love remote places like this, I wondered:

Is it possible to travel to Jan Mayen Island? If so, how? Do I need special clearance to go there?

Best Answer

The easiest way (don't know if there are others) would be an expedition cruise. There are many going to Greenland, Spitsbergen, etc. and some visit Jan Mayen on the way. I cannot (and probably should not) recommend any specific operator but Google brings up many results.
