Is it possible to get same Side Lower(Same Seats for sharing) for single PNR of two passengers in IRCTC - RAC ticket?

I have booked a ticket for two passengers and the current status of the PNR are RAC161 and RAC 162. Our travelling date is 12-28-2018 from NCJ to MSB.

I'm sure that we will not get confirmed tickets and we are ready to share same Side Lower seat(Single Seat) but the question is Do we get the same seat with same ticket number or different seats?

We don't want to share our seats (even sitting) with other strangers, hence asking this question.

It has been a talk that two passengers with single PNR will get same seats to share. Is it true? I didn't see an Official details from IRCTC regarding this in their pages.

How RAC seats are shared?

In RAC (Reservation Against Cancellation), the passenger is allowed to travel and two passengers share the same berth. If a confirmed passenger does not board the train, a full berth is allotted to the passenger with RAC ticket, according to IRCTC.

Can I get lower berth in RAC?

In majority cases, RAC passengers are allotted Side Lower berth seats, however if number of confirmed seats cancelations is quite high, upper or middle berths may be allotted.

How many RAC tickets get confirmed?

Are you authorized to travel on a RAC ticket? In more than 95% of cases you can be sure of making a journey, though you might have to share the berth with another person.

What if I book 2 RAC ticket?

RAC allotments is done as per the seat availability. If two RAC tickets are booked together then there are high chances that seats will be given together or as near as possible. If four or more RAC tickets are booked together then chances are very less that all four seats will be together.
