Is it possible to get out from the L.A airport during a connection?
I'll have to wait for 4 hours at the LAX airport in a flight from Tokyo to Rio de Janeiro. I'm not a U.S citizen (have Business visa, though), so I would like to know:
Is it allowed to leave the airport while waiting for the next flight (I'd like to buy some stuff in the U.S)?
--- UPDATE ---
If I have 1:30 for shopping, is it possible to get to an Apple Store or BestBuy?

Yes, it is allowed, unless your transit visa restricts you to staying inside the airport. I don't know whether there are any such transit visas, and there wouldn't be anyone to check. In the US, airports have no international zone: you land, you pass immigration, even if you're flying away immediately afterwards.
However, since you only have four hours, the only shopping you'll be able to do is in the airport. 1 hour to pass immigration, 1 hour to pass security on the way back, be there ½ hour before your flight — even in a taxi, you won't go have time to go far, and Los Angeles is huge.

Can I leave LAX Airport during a layover? That depends on many factors. If you are an international traveler, you must clear customs and immigration before leaving the airport. If you are a US citizen, this should not be an issue; but, if you are not, you will need to have a valid visa to enter the nation legally. Can I leave the airport if I have a connection?
Yes, you can leave the airport during domestic layovers. For instance, if you're a US citizen and have a layover within the country, it is legal and safe to leave the airport. Be aware that you'll probably be getting two boarding passes if the domestic layover is more than an hour. Can I leave LAX during a layover Covid?

It is fine to leave, airlines has rules but they are not laws. In the old days, there were many flights with short layovers when most passengers remain onboard, haven't run into any in recent years.A Basic Guide to Layovers
