Is it illegal to watch violent films on an airplane? - High angle of crop unrecognizable investigators with professional equipment photographing evidence at crime scene

I have a peculiar interest in films and TV shows and understand the content can be seen as strange by others. I'm wondering if I would be break any laws by watch a film on a hijacking (i.e. Captain Philips) on a flight.

It's not usually illegal, but you should still be considerate of those around you. Some may not want to see nudity/violence/etc on a plane. Some of the inflight systems have some of the worst scenes removed(!).

However, I've seen people watching full on pornography in the aisle seat, fully visible to others. Some just have no sense.

One point to consider is the laws of the country your airline is in, especially if flying domestically. If say the movie is banned in that country, you may want to avoid watching, and similarly with pornographic movies or just movies with nudity.

Can you watch rated R movies on a plane?

A lot of airlines censor almost everything objectionable from language to violence to sex and so on. And I don't mean outright just putting a censor blur over them but cutting scenes altogether.

Can I watch a movie on a plane?

Some airlines also offer free movies that you can watch on your own phone, tablet or laptop through their inflight entertainment system by connecting to the plane's Wi-Fi, and you can watch these movies without paying for the Wi-Fi. Otherwise, you may want to download a movie to watch offline on your own device.

Do they edit movies for airplanes?

If it requires an edit, the airline will send a request off to a third party editing company that will take into account the airline's content guidelines. The company will then edit the film where they see fit and send it back to the airline. If the airline is happy with the content, it will be shown on board.

Can you film a movie at an airport?

Bottom Line: Yes, you can record, but it has to be public information (nothing private, like monitors) and you'll still have to put your phone or camera through the x-ray machine and walk through without alarm. Be careful if you're thinking of filming TSA agents in action at security.
