Is an OSI sufficient for a travel doc-related OK TO BOARD message, or should I ask for an SSR CKIN?
Just had an airline insert a message in a couple of bookings with them, for check-in staff at the departure airports, that I'm "docs OK" and can be boarded (it's a case not clearly addressed in TIMATIC).
However, these are only OSIs, not SSR CKINs. From what I know, SSRs are more "binding" than OSIs, and other airlines have always inserted SSR CKINs on the very same matter, or both an SSR CKIN and an OSI.
In actual practice, is this likely to matter at bag drop (which is where I'll collect the boarding passes)? Will the staff directly see an OSI message on their computers, and will they see it as a clear statement from the airline to the same degree? Really important as the airline has no office in the countries of the departure airports.

How do I get OK to board on Qatar Airways?
Under the general rule, QR does not require an \u201cOk to Board\u201d VISA message each time a customer departs on his/her journey. It is the responsibility of the passenger or his/her agent to ensure that their travel documents (including passport and VISA) are in order for the destination and transfer points of the journey. What is a special service request?
A Special Service Request (SSR) is a message sent directly to suppliers to communicate traveler preferences, special services needed by a traveler, or of a procedural requirement necessary of the carrier. What is SSR and OSI?
SSRs require the carrier to take action, while OSIs are informational only and do not typically require an action or response from the carrier. OSIs and SSRs are NOT interchangeable. An SSR should be used, if possible. An OSI should be used only if there is no standardized SSR available for the service needed. What is OK to board letter?
It means that your paper-based visa (one that is not stamped in the passport) has been examined and confirmed, and your airline check-in staff can offer you a boarding pass, allowing you to board the flight. In short, Ok To Board indicates that your visa is verified and you can board the flight. All you need to know about 'Ok To Board'
