I'm traveling to Bear Glacier near Seward, AK, USA. We're planning to arrive by water taxi, camp near the glacier, and kayak from there.

Do you need a permit to camp there? I can't find anything online.

Can you drive to Bear Glacier?

The only ways into bear glacier are by boat in difficult waters and at only the perfect timing of the tides. The other way is via a very quick and comfortable helicopter ride.

What kind of Glacier is Bear Glacier?

Bear Glacier is an outlet glacier of the Harding Icefield in Kenai Fjords National Park, Alaska. Glaciers form when fallen snow compresses into an ice mass over many years; the process usually takes centuries. The ice then flows to lower elevations.
