Can you transport an air rifle?

Classed as \u201cspecifically dangerous firearms\u201d, airguns must be transported in a securely fastened case which prevents it from being freely picked up and fired. Furthermore, an airgun cannot be cocked and ready to fire while in the case, nor can it be loaded with a pellet, regardless of whether it is cocked or not.

Can we travel with airgun in India?

In India, the use of an air gun is not totally illegal. It can also be used legally, but only after a license is produced. If you are traveling by air to India, then only license holder passengers can carry one licensed revolver or pistol or a shotgun while traveling.

Do you need a license to own an airgun in India?

A licence will be needed for air rifles, air guns and paintball markers, irrespective of the muzzle energy or calibre or bore, according to the new arms rules. Air guns having muzzle energy exceeding 20 joules or bore exceeding 0.177 or 4.5 mm will have to maintain record with ID proof of the buyer.

Is an air gun considered a firearm?

In practical terms air rifles or air guns that exhibit kinetic energy of greater than 12 ft lbs are subject to Section 1 of the Act and require a firearm certificate in order to possess them.
