How and when do I pay for luggage?

How and when do I pay for luggage? - Brown Wooden Blocks on White Surface

I recently purchased a flight with STA and it only just dawned on me about luggage. I'm very new to the while flying thing and well I was unsure. My luggage will be over that which is allowed for carry on.

How and when will I pay for my luggage - through STA or at the airport?

Best Answer

Generally you pay for excess luggage when you check in, though some companies offer lower fees if you pay at the time of buying your ticket. If that were true for your booking, however, the travel agent should have mentioned it.

It's also common to see lower fees if you pay through online check-in. Because these policies vary from one airline to another, you should check your airline's web pages to determine their policy.

Is there a baggage fee? When it comes to flying with United Airlines, planning ahead can save you money. The airline offers customers the option to prepay for their checked bags. So, rather than checking your bag at the airport, log in up to 24 hours before your flight, and you'll save $5 per item.

How do you pay for bags at the airport?

You can pay your checked-bag fee online when purchasing your ticket or during the online check-in process. Or, you can pay for your bag at an American Airlines kiosk or service desk at the airport. Some ticket counters accept cash, but be prepared to pay with a card if necessary.

Is it cheaper to pay for baggage online or at the airport?

However, if you simply cannot do without your checked luggage, try to pay for the bag online, as it is typically much cheaper to purchase your bag on the airline's website rather than pay up front at the check-in counter.
