Going to UK for 1 night with only 3 days left on visa - Photography of Brown 3-storey Concrete Building

I have been in/out visiting the UK. I am planning to go to the UK again on August 24 just to join the one day tennis tournament and back to Ireland the next day, the 25th of August, but my UK visa will expire on August 26. Is it still OK to visit the UK?

Best Answer

It's fine and I have done staying until the last day of my visa before. Just make sure you get the date correct.

How long can I visit the UK without a visa?

Holders of the U.S. passport are entitled to stay in the United Kingdom for a period of up to six months with no need of applying for a visa unless they are travelling for work or study. For stays of longer than six months, a visa will be necessary regardless of circumstances.

How long before my visa expires can I travel UK?

If you don't leave voluntarily within 30 days of your visa or leave expiring, you could be deported. Check what to do if you're going to be deported. If you leave after 30 days, you could be banned from re-entering the UK for between 1 and 10 years.

Can I enter the UK before my visa starts?

Normally you cannot travel to the UK before the start date of your visa, as you must enter after the start date in order to 'activate' your Student visa status.

What happens if your UK visa expires?

If your visa has expired, you have 30 days to leave the UK voluntarily at your own expense before you face a ban on re-entry. Alternatively, you may seek to rely on the 14-day rule. Changes to the Immigration Act and law on overstaying are likely to take effect in 2022.
