EC 261/2004 Flight Delay Compensation (Reduction of 50%)

EC 261/2004 Flight Delay Compensation (Reduction of 50%) - Worried young businesswoman with suitcase hurrying on flight on urban background

My British Airways flight (Lon-Del) was delayed by 3 hours and 50 minutes. I missed another connection (booked on a different PNR) and had to bear ticket costs myself and also arrived at my destination a day later.

The airline offered me compensation with a 50% reduction i.e. 300 Euros.

I am aware that the airlines can reduce the compensation amount if the passengers are offered rerouting and arrive within 3-4 hours.

As stated herein the European Commission website:

These amounts may be reduced by 50% where passengers are offered re-routing and the arrival time is no more than four hours than the scheduled arrival time of the flight originally booked.

However, is it only applicable to the flights that are rerouted? As that wasn't the case with my flight.
