Connecting time ay JFK
I arrive at JFK on a Delta flight in terminal 4 at 3:00 pm. I need to catch a Lufthansa flight in terminal 1 at 6:00 pm. Do I have enough time?
Best Answer
You certainly have enough time and nothing to worry about if the flight legs are on the same ticket. In case you bought separate tickets to JFK and from JFK, then you'll still probably make it, but in case the first flight is 2+ hours late, then you're very likely to miss the second flight and you're not entitled to a compensation from the airline. In case you have a good travel insurance covering those cases, you might want to take the risk.

How much time do I need to connect in JFK?
Leave at least 90 minutes for connections that require travel between terminals. You will be required to go through security. If your connecting flight leaves from a different terminal, simply follow the purple 'flight connections' signs and take a free flight connections bus that will transfer you between terminals. Is 45 minutes enough time for a connecting flight in JFK?
But 45 minutes at JFK (even same terminal) for domestic to international flight, I would never consider this. If your incoming flight is just 10 - 15 minutes late (and that is still ok), you miss your connection. Is 1 hour enough for connecting flights in JFK?
I too have to assume these are on separate tickets as the minimum connection time between these 2 airlines at JFK is 1 hour 15 minutes, which I would never do as even that's too short of a time. I agree that you should allow at least 3 hours connection time for these flights. Is 1.5 hours enough for connecting flight at JFK?
Re: 1.5 hr long enough layover at JFK? No, that is not nearly enough time. It can often take an hour just to get through Immigration and you may still be waiting for your luggage (and have to go through Customs, check in for new flight and then go through security again) after your ongoing flight has taken off.Tips on Flight Connectiongs at New York's JFK Airport
