I'm an Indian researching The Harappan Civilization of India as my personal interest. Unfortunately after Partition the area is located in Pakistan.

Since India and Pakistan are well-known enemies, can I expect good behaviour from Pakistanis towards me after they realise that my roots are Indian?

Can you go to Pakistan if you are Indian?

Indian passport holders can apply for a business visa and a tourist visa to visit Pakistan. However, tourist visas are not issued to every Indian national by the Pakistan embassy. Indian nationals are granted visitors visas to visit relatives, friends, or for any other legal reasons.

Is it safe for Hindus to travel to Pakistan?

In general, Pakistan is as safe as any other country in the region however, security concerns are there in some areas which you should stay away from e.g. most areas of K.P, FATA etc. As a general rule, if you use common sense and precaution you're likely not to face issues during your stay.
