Can a visit on ESTA jeopardize getting my J-1 for a summer job? [closed]

Can a visit on ESTA jeopardize getting my J-1 for a summer job? [closed] - Tilt Lens Photography of Super Bock Tin Can

I've been going to work in summer camp for the past 10 years now (on J-1 visa - around three months each year) and have always come back home within the allowed time afterwards. I'm planning on a doing the same again this following summer.

I'd like to visit some friends in the States in January for hopefully a month or two (??) on ESTA.

Would such a visit (or a certain length of it) jeopardize obtaining my J-1 visa for the summer and if not can I make this trip while already registered with a sponsored agency to get J-1 but haven't applied for the actual visa at the Embassy yet?
