Amtrak Roomette luggage security

I am looking to taking a trip on the Southwest Chief Amtrak train and booking a Roomette. I know that I can sit in my Roomette and watch the world go by, but what I want to know about is how concerned should I be about the security of my stuff when I am not in the Roomette? EG when I go to the dining car or the observation lounge?

Can the Roomette be secured? Or should I load up with all my valuables (Phone, Tablet, Camera) and take them with me while I am away?

Are Amtrak roomettes lockable?

You can lock the door when you are inside the roomette, but you cannot lock it from the outside, so avoid leaving valuables in the roomette when you are not there. Bedrooms offer larger private accommodations at an extra cost. The only non-private seating on Amtrak trains is coach seating.

Do they check your bags on Amtrak?

Checked baggage service is available at a number of our stations and on many trains and Thruway Services. Not all trains or locations are equipped to handle checked baggage. Before you travel, make sure to check and see if your train and origin and destination stations accept checked baggage.

Where do you put your luggage in a Amtrak roomette?

An Amtrak tip that I mentioned earlier, if you're traveling solo in a roomette, you can bring your carry-on luggage in the sleeping room with you. With the top bunk empty, you can stow your smaller bags and carry-ons \u201cupstairs\u201d on the upper bunk or the hard-to-reach shelf.

What is included with an Amtrak roomette?

Two comfortable seats by day. Upper and lower berths by night. Newly upgraded bedding, pillows, towels and linens. Access to a private restroom and shower in your car.
